Kenzie & Jon’s Western Vogue Wedding at Ivory North
Makenzie and Jon’s northern Minnesota wedding was as heartfelt as it was intentional. From the ribbon-tied flowers passed out by their flower girls to the custom drink tags and a guest “book” cowboy hat, Kenzie and Jon curated a perfectly personalized wedding day.
The History ~
Makenzie and Jon both grew up in Minnesota, but came to know one another while Kenzie was living in Tennessee. After connecting on Instagram, Jon found himself in TN for a work trip shortly before Christmas and invited Kenzie on a date. “He found us the most Hallmark movie dive bar to meet at,” Kenzie shared about the beginnings of their love story. Soon after, following a 14-hour road trip home for the holidays, “the rest is just about history,” Kenzie says. “I talked for every minute of those 14 hours I think!”
After a year and a half of long-distance, Kenzie finally moved home to Minnesota, and the couple bought their first house. Jon proposed 3 months later in Colorado, on Prospect Mountain in Estes Park.
The Wedding Day Design ~
“The vibe we envisioned for our day was coastal cowboy — neutral, simple, clean, and timeless.” Between our team and the florist (Channelle of Long Way Floral), we affectionately came to call this “Western Vogue,” reflecting Kenzie and Jon’s signature style of effortlessly blending clean, relaxed decor and Chic Western details with bold and unexpected accents (such as the artful use of limes as decor, a martini-glass-tower dessert display, a cigar bar, and a ceremony backdrop of mismatched pedestals with whimsical, oversized arrangements).
The couple’s heartfelt wedding took place at Ivory North. “We stumbled upon the most stunning venue in Mora, Minnesota, that matched both of our styles to perfection, from its timeless, bright barn to the industrial finishes,” the couple shared about finding their venue.
Floral Design ~
The couple embraced a color palette of crisp whites and creamy neutrals with fresh spring greens. Calla Lilies and Bells of Ireland were abundant, and during the ceremony, the flower girls handed out individual long-stem lilies and carnations. Kenzie’s garden-inspired bouquet was lush and timelessly elegant, and Jon wore a tasteful calla lily boutonniere.
Styling Mr. and Mrs. Dahlman ~
Jon was fitted with a custom Club Carraway suit, and Kenzie wore a romantic, strapless bridal gown designed by Jenny Yoo. The sweetheart neckline, soft silk fabric, clean lines, and fashion-forward bridal scarf looked effortlessly trendy. Of course, the couple also embraced their western roots with elegance and ease, wearing custom boots and Stetson hats.
The Ceremony ~
The couple said “I Do” in the historic white barn at Ivory North. Their ceremony backdrop, designed by Long Way Floral, featured a collection of mismatched pedestals and lush arrangements with dimensional blooms that caught the dreamy light pouring in from the barn’s windows.
After the ceremony, guests mingled on the patio under string lights, and Jon surprised Kenzie with a live performance from local musician, Reese Glover!
Personal Details ~
Kenzie and Jon took every chance to personalize their day with sweet and simple details. From the large linen welcome sign to the custom matchbooks, and Jon’s Cigar Bar, the couple’s personality was evident. Even the “guestbook” was a statement: a luxury rabbit fur hat for guests to sign!
The Bar ~
One of the most fun aspects of the couple’s event design was the bar. Guests were greeted with custom cocktail napkins and “thank you” drink tags clipped to each glass, and a playful display of limes decorated the infused water station. The bar menus were made of linen, while the signature drink sign was a statement stone piece for the couple’s Double Barrel Old Fashioned and Spur of the Moment Margarita. The signature drinks even came garnished with custom flame-branded citrus peels!
